Founded by Kath Koschel, Kindness Factory is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to spread kindness, hope and respect around the world. In addition to encouraging small acts of generosity and thoughtfulness, the charity delivers a Kindness Curriculum to schools, to help children develop resilience and positivity.
"Kath has an incredible story of resilience and adversity. It's something we as a business can learn a lot from," ACM's managing director Tony Kendall said. "Our partnership with the Kindness Factory has already opened our eyes to how we can all live and work in kinder ways."
Kath was a rising cricket star and dreamed of playing for Australia when she broke her back. Her recovery was marred by further trauma, including the loss of her partner and another accident which broke her back a second time. Kath credits simple acts of kindness with getting her through her darkest moments.
She started Kindness Factory - now a global movement - to pay forward the gratitude she felt.
How ACM is partnering with Kindness Factory
ACM, Australia's largest independent media business, selected the Kindness Factory as a charity partner after a staff survey indicated an interest in improving mental health outcomes, particularly for young people.
"Our partnership with the Kindness Factory signifies an important step in ACM's commitment to keeping the community strong, informed and connected," Mr Kendall said. "Together we are helping youth to become kind and resilient individuals and in turn helping with their own mental health - a very important ingredient for future generations."
An initial grant will give 80 schools access to the Kind Schools network, a premium extension of the existing Kindness Curriculum. Then, ACM's newly launched insurance business, View Insurance, will donate an amount equal to 2 per cent of the premium of each policy sold to provide ongoing funding to the Kind Schools network. ACM will continue to support the Kindness Factory through staff and media activity.
