The 16-year-old from Junee took part in The May 50K to raise funds for multiple sclerosis (MS) research.

It's a cause he cares deeply for, given his mother, Miranda was diagnosed with it 17 years ago.

Already a keen runner, Dylan has set himself the goal to double the 50km challenge, and despite a bout of illness, he managed to just eclipse the 100km target.

"I got really sick halfway through [the month] so I had to get COVID tested and stay inside," Dylan said.

"I wasn't able to go to The Rock like I wanted to, but I ran 100.17km [in the month]. I was trying to do more, but the sickness slowed me down."

With the help of his work colleagues and his fellow volunteers at the Illabo Speedway, Dylan managed to raise $2300 over the four weeks.

It far exceeded his modest goal of just $500.

"I thought I'd eventually get $1816, but then my colleagues did a fundraiser and I was sponsored by the Illabo Raceway and someone donated $500 there," Dylan said.

"Mum was very emotional after that generous donation in Illabo."

Across the nation, the $5,060,307 was raised and Dylan joined the more than 28,600 runners taking part.

Although this was his first year in the month-long marathon and despite the marring of his sickness, Dylan plans to take part in the event annually.
