After a perfect start to the series, with three wins from the first three heats, a poor day at Manawatu saw Hart slip to second behind Sarah O'Reilly.
The New Zealander then maintained her advantage with a sixth place finish from Hart in the last leg at Alexandra Park on Friday seeing Hart end the week-long series 12 points adrift.
However as the highest ranked Australia driver, Hart has now been selected to represent his country in Sweden next year.
Hart will compete in the famed Swedish Guldklockan (Gold Watch) series at Solvalla next December.
Hart will be the first Australian to take part in the series.
Meanwhile former Temora horseman Rickie Alchin finished ninth in the Inter Dominion trotters final at Alexandra Park on Saturday.
