Focusing on strengthening local not-for-profits and rural communities, the program will allow Junee to access a range of support and local community groups will be able to apply for $950,000 in grants.

Alongside Leeton and Nambucca Valley, Junee will partner with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) for the four-year IRCF program.

FRRR will work with the community groups collectively to identify their highest priorities, from access to experts or coaches, training and skill-building, or funding for key projects. Junee Business and Trades (JBT) took the lead with the application and demonstrated they were working on behalf of 25 local not-for-profit groups.

JBT chairperson Tony Butt said the committee was over the moon with the news. "This funding will allow our community groups to work together to put procedures in place to develop strategies to assist them in doing what they do best," he said.

"To help and assist those in need, to make Junee and districts a better place to live, to keep our young people employed and living close to their families, and to encourage the younger generation to continue the good work of our existing volunteer community groups."

IRCF program manager Alli Mudford said their application showed collaboration was already at the heart of the community.

"It was clear that Junee had engaged in whole-of-community discussions. They have embraced the program and have collaborated quickly. Junee is action-oriented and has big-ticket project ideas," she said.

Over the coming six months, FRRR will work closely with Junee not-for-profits to help develop a capacity plan unique to their situation, to allocate resources, and to learn and share what makes communities and not-for-profits thrive and how locally-led solutions are applied.
