The Ladies of the Land campaign has seen Junee band together and show what it means to be a community, donating more than 100 boxes of goodies to those in need this Christmas.
Ladies of the Land was created by Elzette Connan and Tracey Potts, who have called on communities to donate boxes of goodies like tea, pamper items, and chocolate to send out to deserving women who normally put everyone else before themselves.
Junee showgirl Sara Makeham, along with Junee AGnVET staff, set up a donation drop-off point at the veterinary clinic on Lisgar street and the response from residents was beyond expectations.
"We ended up collecting 129 shoe box donations in total which was definitely more than anything we expected," Junee AGnVET's Kiah Sutherland said.
"We didn't have a number in mind but the donations just kept flowing in."
Maria Turner, who was also involved in the campaign, described the achievement as "a mighty effort".
"The boxes represent the giver sending love and letting the receiver know that they are in our thoughts," she said.
"To quote The Shine winner for courage 2019, Margy Perkuhn, 'I can't believe how many women have cried over getting cans of deodorant'.
"May this terrible drought end soon."
Ms Sutherland said the community efforts won't necessarily end here.
"If a similar organisation or opportunity arose we'd definitely consider helping out again seeing as we had such a great response," she said.
