The Junee trainer-driver didn't head into Dubbo's feature race with a great deal of confidence after drawing barrier six, but was thrilled with the mare's performance.

"I'd resigned to the fact that once we drew the outside of the first row about going for $750 unplaced," Harpley said.

Inside Harpley elected to ride his luck along the fence and it worked out well.

"I actually thought no one would want the fence and was surprised Takara Truffle went there," he said.

Bettor Enforce went on to win the $50,000 race by 12 metres for Luke McCarthy.

Coming off a win in the Griffith Pacers Cup, Harpley expects to follow the Carnival of Cups circuit with the six-year-old.

"She's earned more in three starts this season than she has in all of last season," Harpley said.

However after two throat operations in her past two seasons Harpley is looking for more luck this time.

He's looking to continue the good trend at Young on Tuesday with Miss Gold Fortune engaged.

She has drawn two and Harpley hopes it will help her chances

"I was slightly disappointed with her at Temora but the lead time was pretty quick," he said. "She is working really good and is going to settle up there handy and is a chance from there."
