President Jason Barrett thanked the NSW government and Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke for providing the funding under Stronger Country Communities round two.
He also thanked the Junee Shire Council for managing the project and his hardworking committee for their contributions to the application and to supporting tennis in Junee.
The previous surface lasted 20 years, so Jason is hopeful tennis will remain strong for many years to come.
On the night, mention was made of committee members who had been made life members for their 10 years or more of service to tennis.
Thanks were extended to Daniel Manwaring, Maria Turner and Jason Barrett.
Jason also thanked Lynne Curry, Cheryl Purcell and Steve Gardner for their double life memberships. Both division one and two grand finals were tight matches with determination and skill on display.
Team Gavrilova - Lloyd Dolan, Angus Lamont and Vicki Lehman - were victorious by one game over Steve Gardner, Andrew Lawford and Maria Turner in the division one competition.
Division two grand final ended in a tie break after three sets and games locked at 15 all. Team Head - Leigh Drum, Pru Asmus and Frank Plozza - were triumphant over Team Wilson - Gary Martin, Nicki Cox and Sally Hall.
Great fun was had by members present not playing in the grand finals who enjoyed social tennis playing by the 'fast four' rules.
In the new year, the tennis club will participate in a new promotion by Tennis Australia to re-engage adults in tennis.
The new format is exciting with the focus on fun and engagement rather than competition.
