One of the club's bowling greens was dedicated to Harry Thompson as a gesture of thanks.
Mr Thompson said he had been involved with the Junee Bowling Club for more than 20 years.
"It's just my interest in the sport that keeps me going I suppose, I'm not spectacular at it but the people here are great and we all have a good time," he said.
Despite his long-serving membership with the club, the dedication still came as a surprise to Mr Thompson.
"It was a big surprise, I might start thinking about charging everyone now to use my green," he said.
Born and bred in Junee, the bowling legend said whenever there was a game to play, he would be there.
"There's always good company to be found here," he said.
"Every day I'm here is a highlight of my time with the club."
Friend and fellow member Ian Cooper said the dedication to Mr Thompson was well deserved.
"I've known Harry through playing bowls over the past 35 years, and it's about time we renamed one of our greens," he said.
While Mr Thompson had a short stint at Coolamon's bowling club, Mr Cooper said his dedication to Junee was strong.
"Without Harry I think the club would have closed a long time ago to be honest," he said.
"He's been chairman here for years and is always lending a hand."
The naming of the green was unveiled on the same occasion as the State Pennants Flag unveiling, according to Mr Cooper.
"We had our president's day and the flag unveiling so it was all happening on the one day," he said.
"We had the state president Vince Beard there and a number of other head bodies to congratulate Harry."
With a few games of bowls and food and drinks on offer, the day was a success.
"The last time a green was dedicated was about 40 years ago so it doesn't come around too often," Mr Cooper said.
"It was a bit of a long time coming and he deserved it."
The Junee Bowling Club announced the Harry Thompson Green on their Facebook page, saying it was "A very proud moment for the club".
"Harry has been a dedicated member for many years," the post read.
"Always being one of the first to put his hand up to help out no matter what the task is at hand. The club is incredibly lucky and always grateful for everything Harry has done and continues to do."
