Earth Canvas is a not for profit organisation comprised of six farmers from around Southern NSW who have paired up with Australian artists and opened their gates to the public.
The partnerships aim to show the public where their food comes from, how to make it sustainable and the value in regenerative farming.
"There are so many synergies between agriculture and art, despite it seeming like a strange pairing," Gillian Sanbrook, chairperson of Earth Canvas, said.
"You have to be super observant as a farmer and artists need to observe to create their art.
"It's like the canary in the coal mine - artists are often the first ones to see things, and farmers are much the same."
Artists have been working on the farms since April to create their landscape interpretations, with the first two going on show last weekend just North of Albury. This weekend, farms at Holbrook and Little Billabong will also host open days, followed by Yabtree West and Mundarlo the following weekend.
The open days are also trying to get the public back in touch with where they get their food.
"Everybody in world is reliant on agriculture and managing the land," Ms Sanbrook said.
"If you eat food, you're a part of agriculture."
One farmer east of Wagga at Yabtree West said opening her gates to the public was a step towards achieving more sustainable practices.
"As a farmer and food producer it is important that we all understand the food chain," she said.
"We need to understand the pathways of food to the plate and many people in urban and regional populations have lost contact with this concept."
In addition to the farmers and artists, each open day location will feature guest speakers who will touch on issues like soil management and tree planting, as well as a lunch of locally sourced food cooked by local chefs.
