University applications, job hunting or traineeships are not easy to manage, and Junee girl Mae-Rose Harrison said for her it was all a learning experience.

"The HSC exams weren't really what I was expecting," the 17 year old said.

"Some have a bit of a new syllabus though, like with chemistry for example they added a new module which was quite difficult so it was hard to prepare."

Miss Harrison said she hopes to follow a future career in exercise science and rehab.

"Throughout early high school I wanted to do accounting, and I've been doing a traineeship for a few years now in that area but I found that it wasn't what I thought it would be and really wasn't for me," she said.

"I decided I'd go for something more upbeat, not just sitting at a desk in an office all day."

With a career path in mind, Miss Harrison applied for a place at the University of Wollongong and Canberra.

"I was offered early entry for Wollongong, assuming I get the right ATAR needed," she said.

"It is quite high, you need a 94 but they do only partially base it off that for me given how high it is, so if I get around the 65-70 I should be okay.

"It's hard to say if I am confident or not, but I am hoping I will get up there and I think I can."

Miss Harrison said her love of sport has created a more specific idea of where she wants to take her skills from the four-year degree.

"I'm hoping to go into a type of physio but targeted for sports players," she said.

"I love soccer, I played with the Jaguars last year and six-a-side this year for some fun, so I really love it."

Moving from the small town of Junee to a big city will be a big change for Miss Harrison.

"I grew up in Junee, so I am very excited to go to a bigger city for a change," she said.

"I've been up twice to check it out and it's an amazing area.

"I have had about four kids in most of my classes at high school, so going to lectures with upwards of a hundred from here will be a big change, but I'm looking forward to it."
