Jenny Good of the Combined Churches is organising a play for students to perform, which will weave through classic Christmas carols.
"The performance is called The In Keeper's Christmas, which follows the story of the very first Christmas," Mrs Good said.
"We want to get the idea across that Christmas is more than just presents and nice food and things, and that there is a reason we have Christmas at all."
A number of the town's schools will be involved in the evening, while only Year 7 and 8 students from Junee High will be acting in the play.
Junee Public, Junee North, St Josephs and Eurongilly, as well as the Cubs and Scouts, will be singing their nominated carol on the night, which Mrs Good said will match what the audience sees on stage.
"We've adapted the play and the song lyrics to fit in with what the story is telling, so it is somewhat of a story told through song," she said.
The play will be held at the Athenium Theatre on December 1, beginning at 5pm, with a free sausage sizzle and games for the children, as well as performances by the Junee Community Band.
"Each year the Combined Churches organise the Community Carols, and this year being the Uniting Church's turn, we chose to steer away from the typical Bible reading and mix it up a little," Mrs Good said.
Mrs Good said she hoped the community would get on board to make it a memorable evening.
"We really rely on parents to bring their children to do the singing - we have the school choirs but the more students who turn up to join in the better," she said.
