Making the most of some luck at the start, when a galloping Trunkey Tash caused plenty of interference, Harpley made a lightning move to assume the lead in the early stages and never let it go.
Harpley admitted he rode his luck at the start, but was pleased with how the mare has returned this season.
"When those three went hard early I thought they would have to come up for air shortly and I was ready to go," Harpley said.
"Luckily everything worked out good."
Rubies For Tash was fourth in the heat on Tuesday night but went on to defeat the fast-finishing Rusty Crackers by 2.2 metres to take out the $13,000 feature race.
The Junee trainer-driver, who bred and owns the mare with wife Tash, had Rubies For Tash sold twice to interests in the US before failing vet checks.
However after a second wind operation, she looks to have returned to the track is great order.
"She's come back from her operation at Jim Vasey's good, but I mightn't say too much as last time she broke a track record and five days later couldn't pass a medical," Harpley said.
"Hopefully that's not the same situation this time."
After stablehand Jordan Seary took out the race last season with Ned Pepper, Harpley joked he had to square the ledger.
And so he did to win the race for the first time.
Seary drove stablemate Roll One Over into eighth after being severely checked at the start.
