In conjunction with Coolamon and Temora councils, the trail offers tourists a clear route that maps out a variety of offerings from food and wine venues to activities and historic destinations, all the while passing through scenic canola fields.
Junee mayor Neil Smith said the joint tourism project would bring a well-deserved focus to lesser-known attractions.
"Some time ago we did another joint project where a few of our smaller attractions that aren't necessarily on people's radar could be located through an app, and this works as the next step in getting the word out about their value," Cr Smith said.
"These really unique and quirky tourist operators can bubble to the surface now with this trail drawing more attention to them."
The trail is intended to be taken at each traveller's own pace, but offers six different itineraries of varying lengths and themes.
For example, the 'foodie tourist' can opt for a two-day trail - visiting Temora, Bethungra, Junee, Coolamon, Ganmain, Ariah Park and ending back in Temora - which suggests dining options like Graze at the Factory, Coolamon Cheese Factory, and Roundhouse Restaurant.
The history-focused tourist might decide on the three-day 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' trail through Temora, Junee and Coolamon, visiting destinations like the Temora Ambulance Museum, the Broadway Historical Museum and the Bethungra Spiral.
Cr Smith said Junee and surrounding shires had more to offer than first meets the eye.
"Our region does have some outstanding attractions and this trail will bolster the level of interest garnered from tourists and really justify spending a number of days in the area," he said.
"We always want people to stay longer and enjoy the food and accommodation on offer."
Alongside the Canola Trail, Junee Shire Council is in the process of putting together a new visitor guide. It has called for businesses and organisations to get involved.
