According to witnesses, the Coolamon player came off the court mid-play, complaining of an uneasy feeling and saying she felt 'queasy'.
At the time, her team had been engaged in a home game in one of the lower grade competitions at Kindra Park in Coolamon.
While on the sideline, witnesses say she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and 'died', before someone at the scene resuscitated her using a defibrillator.
Having a defibrillator on scene at the courts, witnesses say, made all the difference in saving her life.
The woman was taken to Wagga Base Hospital by ambulance.
At the time of publication, she remained in hospital in a stable condition.
No indication has yet been given on when she may be ready to be discharged from the hospital, or whether her condition will warrant transfer to a major city centre.
