Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, announced that the rail and freight industry would convene in Junee with the help of a $10,000 NSW Government grant, and said the Fund will provide investment into the regional visitor economy on a matched-dollar-for-dollar basis.
"The regional conferencing sector presents a significant growth opportunity for the Cootamundra electorate, because we know that events generate extra business for our restaurants, attractions and accommodation providers, all driving the local economy and creating jobs," Ms Cooke said.
Junee Shire Council Director of Community and Business, Grant Johnson, said the conference is expected to attract visitors from interstate and outside of the region.
"The $10,000 grant will fund a dinner after the event to encourage visitors to the conference to stay overnight in Junee and really get a taste of what our town has to offer," Mr Johnson said.
The event will be held in June this year at the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club, with the final date and program to be announced soon.
