The Bulls blasted in 10 tries to one against round one winners Junee in a comprehensive display at Harris Park on Sunday.
It could have been more than a 58-4 win with a number of good opportunities not coming off in the first half.
Southcity dominated possession and field position with an under strength Diesels having limited chances with the ball in the Bulls half throughout the game.
After going down to last year's wooden spooners in Temora last week, Southcity captain-coach Kyle McCarthy was thrilled with how they responded.
"It makes a big difference when you hold the ball," McCarthy said.
"We were expecting a big game as they did a job on Coota last week and the way we performed we didn't know what was going to happen.
"When you don't drop the ball five or six times in your own half that's 30 less tackles you have to make and 30 more they have to so we had a lot more energy in the tank for the back half and scored a few extra points and carried that energy into the second half.
"I'm pretty pleased with that."
Junee were dealt an injury blow 22 seconds into the game with Ritchie Herangi hurting his ankle.
It was the second rower's only involvement and things didn't get much better for the Diesels from there.
Harry Lucas opened the scoring after eight minutes and in the space of next six minutes the Bulls put two more tries on.
After blowing a number of opportunities Mitch Bennett forced his way over with five minutes left in the half to help the Bulls to a 22-0 lead at the break.
Things only got worse for the Diesels in the second half and three minutes into the half a chip kick went straight to Mitch Curran who put Jordan Little away for a 65-metre try.
Long range efforts were a feature in the second half with Jake Dooley completing his hat-trick with a 40-metre effort to make it 52-0.
Junee finally got on the board off the back of a couple of penalties when Chris Lewis found himself in space out wide with 13 to play.
McCarthy then sealed the rollicking win with six to play.
The Bulls finished with no substitutions after Nick Skinner played limited minutes with a hernia problem he brought into the game while Luke McBeath (shoulder) and Usaia O'Sullivan (groin) came off as a precaution.
However McCarthy was pleased with how the side continued to defend.
"Only letting in one try I was pretty stoked with that," he said.
