Announced in Tuesday evening's federal budget, the Riverina will receive $69 million over the next five years to improve its roads.
Of that total, the shire council see an additional $587,934. It is a 25 per cent increase on the previous budget allocation.
Mayor Neil Smith welcomed the amount as a contribution towards saving the district from disrepair.
"Council has always prided itself on the standards and the qualities of its roads," said the mayor.
"Because we have high standards, it can be difficult to keep it up to expectations sometimes."
Mayor Smith said the condition of the town's roads was "one of the big topics for discussion" at council's recent strategic planning forum.
"We have tarred most of our roads, which costs more to do than dirt roads. It's more to upkeep," he said.
"We've got a small council [area], so money is not easy to come by. This will help."
Four main projects are on the immediate agenda in Junee Shire, including re-sheeting Wyoming Lane, reconstructing Brabins Road and resealing both Illabo State Road and Bethungra Hill State Road.
But the mayor also highlighted two separate areas for future consideration.
"Combaning Road is somewhere we've been discussing. At times it can become waterlogged and has a lot of BW-traffic coming through which causes wear and tear," said Mayor Smith.
"It's something we'd be looking to make a priority because it is the main road that connects Junee to Gundagai and it's used by a lot of people to get to Sydney."
Additionally, Park Lane has resurfaced as a point of discussion. Closed since the middle of last year, the thoroughfare is expected to be re-opened once the correctional centre construction concludes.
"We're talking about upgrading it and tarring it before re-opening," said the mayor.
