About 3:30am on Saturday, police were called to a single-car incident at the intersection between Allawah Road and Eurongilly Road.
A vehicle travelling east along Eurongilly Road had apparently veered off the road and hit a tree.
No injuries were sustained by the two occupants and both managed to get to safety before the car then caught alight.
The fire was extinguished by crews attached to the Rural Fire Service.
Police have begun making inquiries to determine the factors that caused the car to leave the road.
Investigations will also continue into the circumstances that saw the vehicle catch fire so quickly after the crash.
Meanwhile, in other news from the weekend, police spent Saturday morning conducting routine patrols around Ardlethan.
Acting Inspector Gerard Horsley has praised the efforts of the community after the town's annual races promoted little disruption.
No serious incidents eventuated, with Inspector Horsley concluding "the crowd were well behaved".
