Early morning on Friday, a total of 27.8mm was dumped on the town and its surrounds. Majority fell within the space of about 10 minutes.
The storm caused localised flooding on Lorne Street and has forced the temporary closure of the Junee Recreation and Aquatic Centre.
Council workers are currently in the process of reversing damage to the foyer and group fitness area, where flood waters came through.
A spokesperson from the facility said staff were hopeful the gym would be able to re-open later today.
Damage to the pool area may take longer to fix.
Workers are currently looking into whether the pool sustained structural damage after the storm unleashed its fury over the complex.
Significant mud and dirt deposits in the waters will also need to be removed before the pool is safe to re-enter.
As a result, the spokesperson said the pool would likely re-open later this week.
Friday's storm activity was followed by more rainfall. Saturday saw 1.6mm hit, while today has already registered 0.2mm.
