Acting Inspector Gerard Horsley said the weekend provided police with the opportunity to conduct pro-active patrols around Junee, Coolamon and Temora.

As a result, no nefarious activities were reported in Coolamon or Temora in the past week.

Witnesses sought

Junee officers are seeking assistance from the community following a motor vehicle incident around midday on Wednesday. 

Police believe a white Hyundai Santa Fe was involved in a crash on Byrnes Road near Junee. 

"If anyone witnessed the collision or has dash cam or CCTV footage, please contact Junee police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," said Acting Inspector Horseley.

Police officer of the year

Junee's police force have been recognised for consistent community commitment at this year's Riverina Police District Police Officer of the Year Awards.

Three officers and the town's police volunteer have been nominated for awards.

Senior Constable Mark Fitzgibbons, Senior Constable Tim Hall and Inspector Rob Vergano are up for the Rotary Community Policing Award. While Glen Fanning is nominated for the Volunteer or Unsworn Employee Award.

This is the second notable nomination received by Mr Fanning after he took the state volunteer of the year award at last year's NSW Police Officer of the Year awards.

Announced at last week's police breakfast in Wagga, this is the fifth year the district awards have taken place.

"I am extremely proud to be a member of this police force and to work alongside all these great men and women," said Riverina Superintendent Bob Noble.
