In the women’s competition, Blue Birds had to fight all the way to finally get over Scramblers 2-1 in a great that was end to end with great attack and solid defence from both teams. The Blue Birds were very strong in attack and had more shots but just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net. Scramblers made the most of their opportunities and it was a top game from both teams.
- Best on the park was Amy Hanlon (scored both goals for her team), Bellas Passlow and Lindsie Newham.
In the other women’s match, Licorice Hooters and Topssip fought out a lively 1-all draw in another close game. The result sould have gone either way, Claire Foley was a standout in goal for Topssip pulling off some great saves that kept her team in the match. Abby Lewis scored for Licorice Hooters while Natasha Lamb got the goal for Topssip. Very quick game that showed out some great skills from players both with their attack and in their defence. Top match.
- Best on the park was Genelle Keough, Jodi Crowder and Tootsie Lamb.
In the Men’s, The Wolf Pack got the best of Egg Plants with a 6-0 result with both teams working very hard in defence and attack. Carl Baldry and Ethan Sainsbury scored braces, while Braiden Philipse and Hayden Boetcher scored goals. It was a fast and furious meeting with plenty of shots from both teams and Egg Plants certainly had their chances. The score-line was a little lopsided on the night but was not a true indication of how well Egg Plants went on the night and when they hit their straps, results may well be on the positive side.
In the last Men’s game, Hell Raisers took the points from Get Plastered 7-3 with plenty of action from both teams. A hat-trick from David Billingham was a highlight and was supported by braces from Zac Billingham and Brad Price. Goals for Get Plastered came from Chris Lewis and Ben Cook. The game was not as one sided as the score-line might suggest. Both teams had opportunities and a little more luck could have seen a much closer result. Strong attack and equally strong defence was a highlight of the game.
- Best on the night was David Billingham, Brett Dobson and Zac Billingham.
