VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women and the The Smith Family supports education of disadvantaged children through charitable fundraising, helping to make life-changing differences to local children and their families.
Through referrals from partner schools, the charity has more than 4000 children in financially stressed households in need of sponsors.
Our small club of 21 members actually sponsors five children, four in primary school and our oldest student will complete Year 12 this year.
The Smith Family provides each sponsored child a co-ordinator who takes the time to understand that child’s specific needs to ensure that they receive appropriate assistance.
Our club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for dinner when we enjoy listening to a guest speaker and take part in quizzes and games.
VIEW Club hold regular raffles and the proceeds of our monthly second hand book stall held at the Rotary Markets raises money to cover our five sponsorships, the cost of providing school stationary packs for our six local schools and book prizes each year, and the cards and gift vouchers we send to our sponsored students for their birthdays and at Christmas.
Our members have also held garden parties and fashion parades and are always happy to support the other service clubs’ activities in Junee, for example members helped the local Red Cross members hand out water to the Australia Day Fun runners last Saturday.
We are always looking for women of all backgrounds and ages to join us and look forward to welcoming new faces at our meetings.
We were very pleased to welcome four new members in 2018.
