Acting prime minister Michael McCormack announced the investment of $300,000 on Thursday morning.
The money will be used to upgrade the building, which is more than 30 years old. The newest parts of the building were built in 1991.
“Our bathrooms are still serviceable, but they are quite dated,” said facility manager Belinda Colgan.
The funds will also go towards replacing the centre’s 205 light bulbs with energy efficient globes.
“We’re also looking to do a complete repaint and refloor around the centre,” said Ms Colgan.
Today’s announcement has become the culmination of four months waiting, and represents the first infrastructure grant the facility has received since it began operation.
“It will make an enormous difference for the residents,” said Ms Colgan.
“There’s a lot of people who take pride in their rooms here, so we’re absolutely ecstatic to have received the full $300,000.”
Two other aged care facilities in the region are also slated to receive their cut of this week’s funding.
Allawah Lodge in Coolamon will use its $497,135 grant to improve its kitchen and laundry.
The centre’s courtyard and sunroom will be refurbished, and a fence installed around the property boundary.
The Whiddon Group Aged Care Facility in Temora took delivery of $111,699 towards the installation of a solar system and battery.
