Imagine a big shopping centre with pictures beamed on to a wall – dancing reindeers, singing elves, flashing lights, amazing gifts.
Then, these pictures begin to fade away and you see the night sky over Bethlehem with a bright shining star. A star that led the wise men to Jesus.
Now, look into our night sky over Junee, and see a bright star to remind you of Jesus, God’s Christmas gift to us.
The Prince of peace. The Saviour of the world.
Maybe there are some things that just need to fade away in our lives and new things come clearly into focus.
Mend a broken relationship, particularly with a family member. Say “sorry”. Forgive someone who has hurt you. Tell someone you love them. Invite someone for a meal. Hug someone who needs a hug.
Give generously. Have a thankful heart. Something wonderful happened in the manger. Something wonderful can happen in our hearts this Christmas.
You may have seen a picture of the Grand Canyon in America. You might be like the person who saw the canyon for the first time and said, “wow, something wonderful must have happened here.” When we look at the beauty and simplicity of the manger scene we could also say, “wow, something wonderful happened there.”
So, let’s put the WOW factor back in to Christmas. Wow, what a wonderful gift – a Saviour of the world. Wow, Jesus, the peace maker. This could be the best Christmas you have had for a long time.
May God bless you this Christmas.
