Junee summer six-a-side soccer | Seniors

In the opening ladies’ match, newcomers Blue Birds and Licorice Hooters played out a dramatic two-all draw. Goals were hard to come by with both teams playing it hard and fast to try to get on top. Amy Hanlon for  Blue Birds scored a brace while Abby Lewis and Jodi Crowder scored for Licorice Hooters. Plenty of good attack and solid defence from both teams. Best: Tenaya Gerhard, Mae Harrison and Jodi Crowder.

Topssip and 49ers met in the other ladies’ game and 49ers have come up trumps taking the game against Topssip 3-2 in a great game of football. Both teams worked tirelessly to create chances and there were plenty of shots at and on goal that kept the goalkeepers busy. It was a good game to watch as it was full on from both in attack and defence. Julie Shepherd, Larissa Purnell and Ellie White all notched goals, while Natasha lamb and Hayley Hackett scored for Topssip.  Best: Ellie White, Claire Foley, Kara Hancock.

The men’s games saw The Wolf Pack continue on their winning way with a strong 5-1 result over Get Plastered. The game was not as one-sided as the score would suggest. There was plenty of pressure to contend with created by both in attack and defence. Goals were scored by Lachie Philipse, Hayden Boetcher, Sean Smith, Carl Baldry and Ethan Sainsbury while  Brett Dobson netted for Get Plastered. Best: Rod Beddingfield, Brett Dobosn.

Hell Raisers played Egg Plants in the final game of the night and scored a solid 11-0 win. The game was very fast and was end-to-end action with lots of chances and near misses. Goals by Gavin Richards (3), Jason Mutimer, Brad Price and Ray Jones braces each, with David Billigham and Chris Allen each netting a goal. Best: Chris Allen, David Billingham.

Senior and junior summer soccer goes into the Christmas/New Year break after next week. Games resume Wednesday, January 9.
