With holiday-makers beginning to plan their journeys, Junee police have reminded the community to observe the safest driving practices.
“Officers will be out in force throughout the Christmas and New Year’s season, making sure that drivers are keeping the roads safe for everyone,” said Junee’s Inspector Rob Vergano.
“We want all our local people to arrive safely and to get home safely.”
Inspector Vergano said everyone planning to travel should make sure their vehicle was roadworthy and that they allowed enough time for adequate rest breaks – every two hours – to avoid fatigue.
“Don’t try to drive long distances in one hit,” he said.
Inspector Vergano also encouraged anyone thinking about having a few drinks to make sure they did not drive while affected by alcohol.
Instead, Inspector Vergano suggested organising a lift, calling a cab, or using one of the town’s hotel courtesy buses.
Parked car smashed
A vehicle had its windows smashed while parked in a driveway during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police have viewed CCTV footage and are now seeking the assistance another vehicle owner seen in the area.
The dark-coloured hatchback was seen driving down the street within proximity to the incident.
Police are appealing for the driver of the second vehicle to come forward.
Drug activity
Junee police are continuing to urge anyone with information about suspected drug activity to come forward.
Inspector Vergano said anyone with information could pass it on via Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000 or to Junee police.
