The annual Girls Night In event on September 1 managed to raise $4488.80 for the Cancer Council’s breast and testicular cancer research.
Combined with just over $5000 raised for the cause in July, when Luke Duncan auctioned the honour of shaving his dreadlocks, brings the total to just under $10,000.
Since its inception 16 years ago, the event has managed to cumulatively raise well over $85,000.
The committee’s work over the years has now been immortalised into the Legislative Assembly Hansard. Owing to the shout out delivered on September 26 by local member Steph Cooke.
The member for Cootamundra even made note of the team’s annual dance number.

A thing of legend now after 16 years, the choreography is typically kept unseen until the official unveiling at the Girls Night In.
This year, it was performed to a full audience at the Junee Athenium Theatre, and involved something reminiscent of the can-can in pink tutus.
“I thank the committee members for their hard work, humour and compassion,” Ms Cooke said during the sitting of NSW parliament.
Committee organiser and founding member Kerrie Holmes admitted the team was “stoked to hear” about Ms Cooke’s community announcement.
“We think we do an OK job at what we do, but to have others recognise what we do was something special,” she said.
The Hansard acknowledgement meant the team of 12 finished the year on a high, hosting a ‘Pink Day’ for the residents of Cooinda Court in late October.
Following its popularity at the Girls Night In, the committee reprised their dance number.
“One of the residents said ‘can you sing for us’, and we thought ‘no, but we can dance’. So we gave it a go and they loved it,” said Ms Holmes.
With the year now complete, Junee’s pink ladies will take a month’s hiatus before preparation begins on the next events.
“It’s almost time to start planning for next year, but in the meantime we’ll be giving some time to raising money for Can Assist,” said Ms Holmes.
