Illabo Speedway has hosted its final event for 2018, with the Dick Briton tribute race day on Saturday October 20.

It played host to 25 racers from South Australia, Victoria, and the ACT at the weekend.
Aged between 16 and 55, the drivers entered three separate events.
As has become customary, the speedcar, modified, and sprintcar events attracted the majority of entrants.
But the newly minted carting race became the most popular with Riverina locals. Altogether, there were eight drivers in that category.
“The morning’s drop of rain helped settle the dust, making it a good day for the spectators and the racers,” said club secretary Kerry Phelan.
With the majority of racers visiting from out-of-state, the event also provided enormous revenue opportunities for the region.
“They held an informal dinner the night before at the RSL,” said Mr Phelan.
“John Campbell, who is the president of the Vintage Speedway Association in NSW, thanked the community for how well they’re always treated when they come to town.
“These people really do appreciate what we do at the speedway.”
