JUNEE Stallions went into Saturday’s Elders Cup competition game against Tumut Plains Cricket Club with an aura of confidence coming off their massive victory in the previous week. Junee were missing some key players in Trent Charlton and Joe Crowder but welcomed back many players who were unavailable in week one.

Tumut Plains won the toss and elected to bat first and came attacking the openers from the start. Tumut’s luck did not pay off as the Stallions took steady wickets through the top of the Plains order having them at 5 for 40 off 13 overs before their middle order took control through Steven Sutton and Matthew Sturt.
Junee kept the pressure on and got the last wicket for the total of 94. Junee's best bowlers were Nathan Charlton, four for 25 off seven overs, Will McGrath, three for 17 off five overs.
The Stallions then took to the crease and, after struggling in the last few years to build an innings, have made it their goal to bat time this year and has shown after scoring a massive 244 in the previous week.
Isaac Cooper and Mick Butler opened for Junee and batted steadily but attacking at an even rate throughout the innings.
The pair looked in solid form and the Plains bowlers had no response as the two batsmen flew past the total in the 13th over without losing a wicket.
Butler (56 no) and Cooper (37 no) showed why Junee are have been named as one of the early favourites again in this season.
Stallions, making it two-from-two, will now host Colts Cricket Club from Tumut this week in Junee at Loftus Oval.
