However, those that did attend had a great time, according to organisers.
Illabo Show Society secretary Leanne Belling said conditions on the day were “not wonderful”.
“The wind was a bit of a downer but other than that I think everyone enjoyed themselves,” she said.
“We had a Mr Magic show, which the kids absolutely loved, there was excellent quality produce and exhibits.
“The sheep numbers were down because people have had to get rid of their sheep because of a lack of feed, but there was a reasonably high standard.”
Eurongilly Public School won the overall points trophy in the school section against Illabo Public School
“The school section was outstanding; two schools compete against each other in about 40 different sections including handwriting, story writing and arts and crafts,” Ms Belling said.
Ms Belling said the gate numbers were down on previous years due to the large number of events in the Riverina
Ms Belling said she hoped to have numbers back up for next year but it could be down to luck as the show was always on the second Saturday in October.
Ms Belling said the prime lambs were judged over the hook in Goulburn and there would be a lamb dinner next Friday to announce the winners.
