The Juggernauts have planned a combined Junior Gala Day with a senior men’s event pitching Junee’s very own representative side against the CSU Wombats.
Having recently joined the Temora men’s competition, the Juggernauts are poised to put up a good fight at home – and a late addition could prove the difference for Junee.
Canberra Gunners SEABL star and Junee boy Tom Commins will be making a special appearance for the Juggernauts both as a player and spectator during the day’s proceedings.
Junee Basketball president Steven Gentle said he was “over the moon” to have Commins on board.
“We ended up getting in touch with him about having a game and he was keen as mustard,” Gentle said.
“It’s pretty amazing that he’s decided to come along because it’s rare for Junee to have someone of that calibre playing in town and with our boys.
“I know it’ll be exciting for our juniors and quite a few of the senior guys are excited to play alongside him as well.”
Gentle is excited at the prospect of combining the junior and senior events.
“The main reason we’re doing it like this is so the kids can stick around after their games and watch the seniors in action to try and learn a bit more about the game,” he said.
“Having Commins back and playing for us makes it even better.”
The Gala Day is scheduled for October 20.
