Burning Seed

Riverina police joined forces at the Burning Seed festival in Matong last week, under direction of Ganmain’s Constable Dylan Mugridge.

The week long festival ended on Tuesday October 2. In that time, police conducted 3040 random breath tests, 1628 being on the final day.

Police conducted 24 person searches and eight vehicles, uncovering eight drug offences.

Only four people were ejected from the festival at the request of the event organisers.

“There were 42,000 people there so statistically that’s a great result,” said Sergeant David Dechene. 

“I was out there for a couple days and from my own observation, the event organisers were working well with police to keep everyone safe. Police were very focused on preventative measures.”

Overall, 20 traffic infringements were issued, and one vehicle defect notice delivered.

Operation Slow Down

Over the Labour Day long weekend, Junee police joined a statewide crackdown in traffic and highway offences.

Across the Riverina, 4000 breath tests were conducted without any major incidents.

On Monday October 29, the operation led police to uncover a suspended driver.

The Junee man was stopped on Lorne Street at 11:05pm for random breath testing.

He will front Junee Local Court on Friday November 9.

Break and entry

Police are seeking information following a reported break in at a George Street property on Monday October 1.

Nothing was taken from the property, but Junee police are looking to speak with a man who was seen wearing a dark hoodie in the area between 5:40 and 8:15pm.
