This week could bring some much-needed rain across the region.
The Bureau of Meterology has said there is a decent chance of rain on both Wednesday and Thursday,.
Nigel Smedley from the bureau’s Wagga office said there is a 70 per cent chance of between eight and 15 millimetres of rain falling on Wagga on Wednesday, with an 80 per cent chance of between between five and 15mm on Thursday.
For Junee, there is a 70 per cent likelihood of between six and 15mm falling on Wednesday, with an 80 per cent chance of six to 20mm on Thursday.
At Cootamundra, the likelihood of between six and 15mm on Wednesday is 70 per cent, while there is a 90 per cent chance of between eight and 25mm on Thursday.
Henty residents have a 70 per cent chance of recording between three and 8mm of rain on Wednesday, and an 80 per cent chance of between four and 15mm on Thursday.
Wagga recorded 32.2mm of rain in September, 17mm below average.
The bulk of that rain – 26.8mm – fell in a single day on September 7.
So far in 2018, there has been 231mm, down on average by 45 per cent, according to the bureau.
The daytime average temperature was 19.1 degrees, 1.4 degrees above what was expected, while the nighttime minimum was an average of 3.8 degrees, 1.3 degrees up on the long-term median.
Mr Smedley said the bureau was predicting the dry conditions would linger for at least the rest of the year.
The bureau says October, November and December are also likely to see warmer than average temperatures both during the day and at night.
