Inspector Rob Vergano joined representatives of the local station at Saturday’s newcomer session hosted by Junee’s Business and Trades Association.

“It was a good opportunity to meet the town’s new arrivals, and to introduce ourselves to those who have moved here recently,” said Inspector Vergano.

“We always want to let people know that we are accessible, and should anyone have any queries they should get in contact with us.

“It’s also excellent to see so many newcomers coming to call our town home.”

Continuing the year’s focus on preventing rural crimes, police also attended a meeting with farmers in Eurongilly at the weekend.

“We spent a good hour with farming families being exposed to things like livestock ear-tagging, drafting, landmarking, and vaccinating,” said Inspector Vergano.

“It was a really good opportunity to be educated about the land and how we can work together to keep the community safe from crime.”

Weekend disturbance

Police were called to a local licenced venue on Sunday September 16 to deal with a disturbance in the gaming area.

Two males aged 34 from Sydney were issued with direction to leave, to which they complied.

Illicit substances

During a late night patrol on Saturday September 15, police apprehended a 36-year-old man from Wagga for alleged drug possession.

A search of his person at 11pm returned two plastic resealable bags believed to be filled with the illicit material.

An implement which police allege is used in the consumption of drugs, was also seized.

He was issued with a court appearance notice and will front Wagga Local Court on November 9.
