It was a great weekend for Old Junee’s Carrington Oke who participated in the 2018 NSW State Road Championships.
Eight-year-old Carrington joined more than 150 children from across the state to compete in categories from under 9s to under 17s.
This was Carrington’s first season on the road and after winning her first race, which was a time trial, she completed the course in just under 10 minutes and beat her nearest rival by 40 seconds.
Two hours later, Carrington backed up her gold medal with another first place in the under 9 girls in the Road Race.
On day two, Carrington and her fellow competitors had the first race of the day in the under 9 girls criterium.
Carrington went to the lead from the start and continued to lead until the half-way point.
Bathurst junior Jenna Gallagher was able to get a 30 second lead and held that lead for the remainder of the race.
Carrington held on to second place with three of her fellow competitors hot on her heels.
