My name is Joe Costello and many years ago I was a Scout, a Venturer and a Rover in a south west suburb of Sydney.
Our Cub Scout Leader, Jackie Starr, had done a superb job with the assistance of Karen Callow in running a very successful Cub Pack but there was nowhere for Cubs to advance onto locally.
Since 2017, Daniel Wattie has taken control of the 1st Junee Scout Troop and has done an excellent job.
I recently took on the role of group leader at 1st Junee Scout Group.
As a Scout Group, we need to retain our current youth membership and we need to look to the future and continue to recruit both youth members and adults.
Our Cub pack has the Kub Kar Rally on July 29, 2018.
Our Scouts have the 2019 Australian Jamboree in South Australia in January.
We have weekly meetings during school terms. Cub Scouts is for children eight to 11 years old and meet on Thursday nights. Scouts is for children 11 to 14 years old and meet on Tuesday nights.
Children want fun, friends, excitement and adventure while parents value honesty, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility and confidence in their children. We help Scouts develop these traits.
Scouts isn't just for youth members. Our adult leaders and volunteers play an important role in the association, sharing their love of adventure and desire to enrich young people’s lives.
Therefore, along with training in child safety, leaders must undergo a standard police check to ensure the safety of our youth members.
