Lake Albert started the game strongly and that kicked Junee into action and although Junee had started well and was pressing the Lake Albert defence from the outset, the early attacks got the home team moving and focusing and they only allowed Lake Albert the single shot at goal in the first half.

Junee created 10 shots at goal with two goals resulting, both to Amy Hanlon.

The second half saw a change in the game with Junee taking a stronger grip on the game and created 16 shots at goal and forcing 7 corners.

All this action came from excellent possession, good movement off the ball and good passing across the park.

Several runs made by the outside backs created some interesting opportunities with two goals coming from big hits by Elisha Ward in the 67th and 73rd minutes that took the game away from Lake.

Junee’s defence was rock solid and they only gave up one corner in the second half.

Angela Barclay in goal has been inspirational with her sweeper/keeper skills and keeping the Junee momentum going forward.

Junee hosted the Cootamundra Strikers on Sunday on Burns Park and came away with a well deserved 1-0 result.

The game was a fast paced affair with both teams battling hard to gain dominance. The majority of attack from both sides was met with equally solid defence that kept the supporters on the edge of their seats.

The first half was Cootamundra’s in terms on shots at goal with the visitors getting away six shots to Junee’s three.

The defensive work was solid from both with no goals being scored with Junee’s Angela Barclay keeping Junee in the game with some top sweeper/keeper skills that saw a lot of through balls safely cleared.

The second half saw Junee start to get on top and managed to get four shots at goal resulting in the winning goal in the 81st minute from Kaitlyn Buck after a scramble in the six yard box, whilst keeping Cootamundra from making any shots at goal.

Junee will head into the weekend’s general bye without adding to their win tally after losing 4-1 to Lake Albert on Sunday.

Strong winds and the absence of regular starters Nick Anderson, Jarrod Eaton and Duncan Brodie failed to deter the Sharks, who comfortably accounted for the struggling Jaguars at Burns Park.

Jamie Rankin was the chief destroyer for Lake Albert with a brace of goals while Blake Smith and Fred Gardner chimed in with strikes of their own to keep the Sharks juggernaut in motion.

The three-goal loss keeps the Jaguars behind South Wagga Warriors at the bottom of the Pascoe Cup ladder.
