It has taken the Croker Grain worker eight years to grow his facial hair and dreadlocks, but only a few hours to lose it all.

He managed to raise about $5,000 for breast and prostate cancer research, so he is pretty happy with the new do.

“It was really surprising to see how much people wanted to see the beard and dreads go, I guess,” said Mr Duncan.

“I’m looking 15 and feeling brand new, but the best bit is absolutely the money we raised.

“It really drives home that we’re doing a good thing and we so couldn’t have done it without the support of so many community groups.”

Each dreadlock was raffled off, with 35 people paying to cut one off. 

Pacific National Junee – the company his fiance works for – paid $1,170 to also shave his face.

With the mercury only reaching a frosty 11 degrees this afternoon, he admits he is missing that extra face fuzz.

“I did forget the beanie, I didn’t really think that far ahead. It’ll take a bit to get used to. 

“My fiance says she doesn’t like it all that much so we’ll both have to get used to it.”

Event organiser Kerrie Holmes said it would not be too unreasonable to see Mr Duncan getting around in snow gear for the rest of winter.

“He wants a balaclava for his cute little baby face,” Ms Holmes said.

Ms Holmes has been involved with organising Junee’s Girls’ Night In for the past 15 years.

In that time, they have managed to raise $80,000 for breast and prostate cancer, and she is very keen to tally today’s total into that amount.

“We so stoked with it, it’s been a massive turn out,” she said.
