Jaxson Allen, 11, was recently named in the under 12s NSW rugby league squad after a standout performance for Riverina during the NSWPSSA primary rugby league tournament in Mudgee last month.
Riverina failed to record a win in their five round-robin games but produced a 10-all draw with North Coast in the 11th place playoff.
The Junee youngster, who also received the Riverina players’ player award for his efforts, is now preparing for a series of upcoming NSW squad camps and mother Tanya couldn’t happier.
“It’s a really big achievement for him,” Tanya said.
“We’re very proud of him for getting selected in the team.”
The versatile Allen plays in the back line and is equally comfortable at fullback, five-eight or halfback.
Now, he’s hoping to showcase his skills on the national stage.
“He’s been playing for a very long time, since under 6s I think, and he loves his footy,” Tanya said.
“We’re selling raffle tickets out of the newsagent to support him as well.”
The SSA Rugby League Championships are to be hosted in Adelaide this year and will run from August 11 to August 18.
