In June, trainees from the GEO Junee Correctional Officer Pre-Service Course of 2018 graduated.
Thirteen successful trainees participated in a nine-week course that focused on and developing skills and a knowledge base to work in a correctional environment.
The course includes modules on the organisation, safety and security, offender management and emergency procedures.
GEO is a Registered Training Organisation and the pre-service course forms part of the Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
GEO is focused on delivering better corrections and safer communities and the correctional environment is one in which an individual can build on their personal strengths while making worthwhile changes to the lives of individuals and striving for operational excellence.
Many of our correctional staff recruited at entry level positions progress to supervisory and managerial roles or positions in other departments.
At GEO, we pride ourselves on being diverse and the staff at Junee Correctional Centre come from all backgrounds. Life experience, strong communication skills and a passion for achieving are the best indicators for success in the corrections sector.
