Have you got your green bags ready?
Junee’s IGA supermarket will follow other supermarket chains and ban single-use plastic bags from the end of this month.
The Woolworths has done away with single-use plastic shopping bags, as of Wednesday, in a move that will also affect Big W, BWS stores and Woolworths’ petrol outlets.
Coles outlets will stop handing out the shopping bags by the end of the month.
Instead, shoppers will have the option of buying thicker plastic bags or bringing their own reusable bags.
At the IGA, shoppers will be able to buy reusable bags or grab an empty cardboard box, an option already offered by Wagga’s Bernardi’s supermarket as well as chains like Aldi and Bunnings.
