The Kangaroos forward was sent off for the high tackle in the second half as the Diesels continued their bright start to the season.
They’ve only lost twice in the first nine rounds of the season, and captain Daniel Foley was pleased with the 38-18 win.
“It was a really good effort from the boys today,” Foley said. “We showed up when we needed to and got away with it.”
Junee capitalised when Kangaroos coach Ben Jeffery was sin binned late in the second half.
Foley scored to hand the Diesels at 16-6 lead and three quick tries in the first eight minutes of the second half saw the Diesels kick away.
They scored four tries to two in the second half to stay comfortably inside the top four.
Foley was pleased with how they continued to work hard throughout.
“With the lead going into half-time we thought we could finish the game off if we came out in the second half and had a bit of intensity early,” he said.
“If we put a few points on them they would roll over and that is what happened.
“We’ve struggled to close games out in the past but we closed this one out pretty well.”
Foley scored twice in the win as his Aidan Sweeney.
Sweeney impressed in his return to first grade as did his brother Pat.
The Wagga club has now slipped to seventh and can’t afford too many more slip ups.
They will be sweating on Barby’s availability ahead of the clash with while Junee will tackle Brothers without Foley who is off on holiday.
