Facing Kooringal for the first time, the Giants emerged with a 12-1 win. Across the court, the team’s passing improved as each of the girls became more confident to run beyond the ball immediately after release, enabling them to find space and move the ball quickly down the court.
Miah and Jorja started in goal shooter and goal attack, with Jorja moving well all over the court, deflecting and intercepting the ball. Miah’s passes within the circle were very impressive and her persistence with rebounding was outstanding, allowing a number of scoring opportunities.
Jocie, Scarlett, and Zoe shared the shooting in the second half and managed to throw up some beautiful shots, adding to the score nicely.
Sophie, Poppy, Lucy and Scarlett moved well within the centre court, finding room and working hard to make quality passes. All four of them improved defensively as the game progressed and their opponents found it challenging to complete passes thus causing chaos in their attack.
Overall, as a team, the defence across the court was the real win of the day. Every girl notched up multiple intercepts and deflections, which allowed us to take the offensive repeatedly. Well done girls.
Storm B Grade
The Storm B Grade team had another convincing win over Turvey Park on Saturday.
Sarah Stevens and Leigh Fitzgerald's ability to take multiple rebounds left Turvey scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
Josie Drum also contributed strongly to Junee's defence, taking several intercepts upon moving into goal defence.
Helping to maintain Storm's lead, Ella Fitzgerald moved into shooting with Madi Harpley and both girls passed well to one another in the face of some aggressive defence.
In the centre court, Jana Lawson, Georgie Turner, Jacinta Cooper and Elise Drum made good use of space when moving the ball down the court to assist in the team's final score of 39-7.
Jewels had the bye.
