Council general manager James Davis said they received a lot of applications from the local community, but the Theatre upgrade was the strongest.
“We have been very pleased with the response from the community, as the projects submitted demonstrate that our community groups in the Shire have clear plans for their clubs, halls and venues,” Mr Davis said.
“One of the large scale projects submitted is the enhancement of the Athenium Theatre with the installation of air-conditioning, which will vastly improve the comfort and attractiveness of the venue.”
With Junee set to host the regional final of the Royal Agricultural Society’s Miss Showgirl competition next March, hopes are high that the state government will support the upgrades.
