
One woman is lucky to be alive after a single-vehicle collision near Junee on Saturday morning.
The driver and sole-occupant was rushed to Wagga Base Hospital, with minor injuries, after her car left Gundagai Road and hit a tree.
It is believed the woman was heading eastward, toward Gundagai, when the accident occurred.
Paramedics, police and firefighters arrived at the scene after 10.30am, where they were forced to cut the driver from the impacted vehicle.
The incident comes amid operation tortoise, with officers from the Riverina Police District cracking down on fatigue, drink and drug-driving this Easter long-weekend.
While the cause of Saturday morning’s collision is unknown, residents hitting the road are urged to take care, with holiday traffic set to increase across the region.
The operation kicked off on Thursday, with double-demerits in force until midnight on Monday.
