A significant milestone is about to be celebrated at the small school in Eurongilly.
The Eurongilly Public School has clocked up 100 years of operation and will celebrate it centenary this year.
“This is a significant milestone for any school, but its importance is perhaps more keenly felt in a small school community,” relieving principal Lucy Greene said.
For many students here, their family connection to Eurongilly can be traced back through multiple generations.
This history is evident as soon as you enter the school foyer where school photos going back to 1971 are on display.

“Students are able to point out their parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and older siblings and some will have a story or two to share about that relative during their school days,” Ms Greene said.
“Eurongilly has had a strong history of sporting success, but also prides itself on providing students with opportunities in many different extracurricular areas, despite our small size and relative isolation.”
“Our motto of educating, enriching and empowering students underpins our priorities and our work ethic each day.
“Our centenary celebration is a wonderful milestone for our school and we are glad to use this opportunity to remember the past, celebrate and share the present, as well as look forward to our schools future.
“Families are deeply invested in this school and contribute so much towards making it the great place it is today.”
The celebration
Celebrations for the centenary start at 2pm on Saturday March 24.
There will be an official opening flowed by cake cutting, afternoon tea and displays of old photos and school uniforms. From 6.30pm the Tin Shed Rattlers will be playing with catering from Golden Roast.
