The Junee horseman lines up Roll One Over in the $14,000 feature race.

He’s trained Group One winners across Australia, but has never trained the winner of the Junee Cup.

Harpley is desperate to end his run of outs after Stening went within a half head of winning it last year and Sokys Bigbullet was beaten a neck in 2015.

Harpley didn’t have a runner in the original cup field before rain forced the meeting set down for January to be transferred to Saturday.

It could be an omen.

“It could be destiny considering we didn’t have a runner in it when it was called off and now we have a runner in it who is a genuine chance,” Harpley said.

“Maybe it is the destiny we need.”

Roll One Over comes into the race in hot form with five of his last seven starts.

Two of those have been since being purchased by Lance Cobban and transferred to Harpley’s stable with his other run for Harpley a second.

Coming off a win at Wagga, Harpley believes he’ll continue to improve.

“He’s still not at his best,” Harpley said.

“I might be next season before I get him as there is a lot of things I want to change with him.

“I think he’s going to be a nice horse, but saying that he’s won five of his last seven so I can’t complain too much.

“I don’t think you will see the best of him until next season, but I think still he’s in with a good chance from a good draw.

“He’s pretty tough too and you have to be in these kind of races up the hill here three times.

“That’s probably his main attribute, his toughness, and we will be using that attribute.”

There is a strong Junee contingent in the race with Terry and Chris Judd also looking to combine with Navajo Rocky.

Navajo Rocky was a winner five starts back and has drawn barrier eight.

Harpley is also expecting strong performances from Harps and Tiwanaku after drawing well in support races on the 10-race card.
