There will be all sorts of chooks on display, including pure-breds, backyard layers, and pet chickens.
Poultry Club spokesperson Jenny Tokley said chickens make a great addition to the family.
“We’ve seen a lot of children really love handling chooks, because they can see their whole life cycle – they can see the chooks lay the eggs and also be very hands on with them because chooks are very friendly animals,” Ms Tokley said.
“If you don’t have the time to put into a dog and you're not a cat person, you can get a small pen in your yard, have a couple of chooks, and get your eggs, too.”
Anyone can browse and purchase chooks at the weekend’s sale, and those who wish to sell their chooks can book a pen for three chickens for just $5 by contacting Jenny Tokley by Friday on 6927 6999.
The poultry sale will be held from 9:30am to 11am on Saturday at the Junee Showgrounds poultry shed.
