The donation was made by the Commonwealth Bank as part of its 100th year of giving back to local communities across Australia.
Can Assist Junee’s president Natalie Phillips said the donation would allow them to continue supporting over 60 clients through their journeys with cancer.
“We cover the cost of any medical expenses relating to cancer, so that could be anything like chemotherapy or radiation, specialist appointments, or biopsies,” Ms Phillips said.
“An average client would spend anywhere from $1000 to $3000 on medical expenses over the course of their treatment, so it can be quite expensive.
“Any amount of money is always welcome, because it comes and goes so quickly and we’ve got new clients coming in all the time – every little dollar helps.”
Miss Phillips said they have also had a strong rise in volunteer numbers who fundraise by selling raffle tickets and baking cakes.
