The work includes widening and resurfacing one kilometre of the highway from Amos Street to 250m north of Ulandra Creek and installing a wire rope safety barrier.
It’s part of a $1.4 million state government blackspot upgrade, which began in 2014.
“The project aims to provide a smoother, safer road environment and reduce future maintenance requirements,” Cootamundra MP Steph Cooke said.
Junee Shire Council will carry out the work on behalf of RMS from Monday January 22 on weekdays from 7am-5pm and from 7am-12pm on Saturdays with drivers advised to be aware of changed road rules, including lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h during work hours for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience during this important road upgrade work which is expected to be completed by the end of April,” Ms Cooke said.
